Why Is Osama Still Alive?

With the release of this new tape of Osama, it becomes completely clear that he, and George Bush, are working together to steal our liberty. We have known for long that the two families are close. Remember how, right after 9/11, the bin Ladens were allowed to catch a flight out of the country, even though planes weren't allowed to fly? Bush greased the wheels on that one.

Right now, with his administration under assault from every direction, George needed his old friend to bail him out again. So, we get a tape from the leader of the terrorists, saying exactly what Bush needs him to say. Now he can stand up and tell us we don't give in to terrorists. Now he can say that staying the course hurts al Qaeda.

I know there will be a few nutjobs out there that will react exactly the way Bush wants them to, and there will be a cadre of pundits, spewing out the talking points, backing him up. I wonder if THEY know it is all just a ploy, to keep the wolves away from little Georgie's house of straw?

Equal Justice

Aren't we all supposed to be equal under the law? I feel sure I read that somewhere, and yet, when I look around, I see that it isn't true.

I'm not really talking about the obvious discrepancies, such as inner-city black kids being rousted just because they are there. That can be fixed. All they have to do is get more money, and move out to the suburbs. Then can be rousted for being THERE, instead.

I'm speaking more about the inequities at a higher level. For instance, if you, or I, were to be caught listening to our neighbors telephone conversations, the authorities would confiscate our equipment, any recorded conversations, and everything else related to the illegal activity. We would be arrested, and held until a judge determined how much it would take to keep us available for a trial.

So, why does a government official get different treatment? Just because someone's daddy BOUGHT him a great job, does that mean he isn't bound by the same laws as the rest of us? If it DOES, then why have so many people given their lives?

When I served in the military, I believed that I was putting my life on the line for freedom, and equal rights for everyone. If I had known that it was just to promote a special interest group's agenda, I would never have gone.

It is time for someone to shine a bright light on the roaches that now inhabit our government. We need to see where they run, and make sure they can never get back to any psoition of power - EVER! Then we start rebuilding our reputation as a nation of caring people.

They Need The Help

Members of the Christian Coalition were barred from entering the chamber where the confirmation hearings will be held for Samuel Alito. They were in the process of performing a "consecration ceremony". They claimed, however, that being barred didn't stop them, since they had already violated the security of the chamber the day before, and a foreign substance had been placed on the chairs where certain key figures would be sitting.

Now, I understand that they are just trying to insure that God is on their side in these hearings. I get that they want everything to go their way in the hearings. What I DON'T get is why no one is raising hell about the fact that they were ever in the chamber at all!

I think everyone has a stake in these hearings. I honestly believe that ALL of us are in peril if Alito gets on the Supreme Court. Certainly, it would be important for, let's say, the american muslim community to make certain that God is on THEIR side, but they never would have gotten to the front steps of the capitol building. So, why is it okay that the CC got in?

At this point, I still believe that, as Americans, we have the right to worship our god, in 0ur own way. I wonder if we will still have that right in another 3 years?

Inmates Running Asylum

I have known, and written in this very blog, that George Bush is a crook. I said it when he "got elected" as governor of Texas. I said it again when he "won" the presidency. I screamed it at the top of my lungs when he ran successfully for a second term.

Now we have proof, from his own sweet lips, that he is a criminal. He doesn't care about the constitution. That means this highly religious ~~bastard~~ man LIED when he took the oath to serve. It means that the sancimonious asshole never intended to be a real president. He has been raping this country for 5 years - in and out - working it good. I hope he has enjoyed it, but more than that, I sincerely hope it is over.

It is time now for a few of our congressional leaders to march over to Pennsylvania Avenue, help him pack, and put his ass on a train to Kennebunkport. Tar and feathers will be optional. If he protests, just explain to the stupid son-of-a-bitch that he did the same thing Nixon did, and worse.

Oh, and if he happens to get roughed up a little in the process, he should understand - at least he won't be tortured.

A World Gone Mad

What in the FUCK is going on? Has the entire planet gone insane? The big question: How does anyone get up in the morning, and face the world?

I have made it clear that I am not blogging right now. I'm not! Really!! When Rumsfeld makes a speech, perpetuating the falsehood that Saddam was a threat to us, or that he was, somehow, involved in 9/11, I have to sit on my hands.

When Bush chuckles, and says he is not a racist, while heading one the most racist administrations EVER, I have to turn my back to the computer. When Cheney says we NEED to maintain the right to torture people, in order to protect ourselves, I have to leave the room. When ANY of the nasty, lying administration toadies speak, I fight down the bile, try not to throw things at the TV - but it is HARD!

It doesn't help to watch cable news. Faux News has been off the edge of the cliff for a long time. MSNBC now has more people carrying water for the prevaricators than they have real reporters (Last count - NONE). CNN is just as bad, with the liars being given equal time, and no one calling BULLSHIT!

I thought I could just keep it on TXCN. I mean, how political can a weather map be? Then they show footage of Bush - Bush lying in front of an all-military audience - Bush lying in front of a bunch of senior citizens - Bush lying in front of a vetted audience of koolaid sucking idiots.

The world has gone crazy. Prosecutors are filing charges against the victims, instead of the criminals. The pentagon is building an "enemy's list" of senior citizens, just because they disagree with our (illegal) president's (illegal) war. Bill "thieving bastard" Frist, is waving his arms, and talking about morality. Joe Lieberman has become this year's Zell Miller. Bill O'Reilly has to make up news. I don't know how anyone can stand it. How anyone can face this world, and not scream.

I am trying not to blog. I don't want to be on someone's list, but it is HARD not to say anything, when they are dragging our country through the mud. Is there anyone we can turn to? Someone to lift us out of this mess, and give us back our nation?

It's Official - It's Over

With the pileup of too much to do, too little to finance the efforts, and failing health, I have decided to end this blog. It is sad, as I got a great deal of pleasure from it, although, I did seem to be upset about SOMETHING all the time.

My family, especially my kids, are upset about it. I think they got a kick out of telling people about my "ranting and raving" political views. Well, they could have picked up the gauntlet, and carried on, but that wasn't on their list of things to do this week.

So, what am I going to do with all this free time? Not to worry, I have a few projects to keep myself busy. I will be writing, and performing, some arrangements for a local songwriter. That should be a lot of fun, and give me an occasional public performance opportunity. I have been asked to join a new band, a bunch of aging musicians, like myself, with our roots firmly planted in the 60s. If I can pull that off, it will be a great way to prolong an already LONG music career.

So, does this mean that I will no longer scream things at the television? Absolutely not! Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and the rest of the lying bastards that have hijacked our nation, will still be on my mind. I will be following the blogs I have come to love, and I may even post a comment from time to time.

Most of all, I think I will miss my favorite reader, The Viscount Lacarte. Dude, you have kept me writing LONG past the time I would have given up without your support. Keep blogging, my friend - the world is watching.

The Week From Hell

This has been a strange time. For some reason, I always get sick during the holidays. In years past, I have been hospitalized for pneumonia, food poisoning, and scalding. This year, though I feel like I am fading fast, I have managed to stay out of the V. A. hospital.

I felt pretty good on thanksgiving, and even went to my sweetie's family gathering. Now I feel like I am getting better. Should be okay in a few days, I hope.

In the meantime, I have missed blogging for a few days. There has been no shortage of things to write about, just a lack of energy. Now that I am on the mend, I would like to get right back into the middle of things. The problem is that, having taken a step back, I see that there is nothing I can do, nothing I can say, that will make the liars in the white house come clean.

I don't know how much longer I can scream into the storm. It feels like no one is listening, and when someone DOES hear, they look, shake their head, and stumble off into the dark, wet night.

Dear Barbara,
On April 04, 2004, your oldest child killed my oldest child, Casey Austin
Sheehan.

Unlike your oldest child, my son was a marvelous person who joined the
military to serve his country and to try and make the world a better place.
Casey didn't want to go to Iraq, but he knew his duty. Your son went AWOL from a
glamour unit. George couldn't even handle the Alabama Air National Guard. Casey
joined the Army before your son became commander in chief. We all know that your
son was thinking of invading Iraq as early as 1999. Casey was a dead man before
George even became president and before he even joined the Army in May of
2000.

I raised Casey and my other children to use their words to solve problems
and conflicts. I told my four children from the time that they were small that
it is ALWAYS wrong to kick, bite, hit, scratch, pull hair, etc. If the smaller
children couldn't find the words to solve their conflicts without violence, I
always encouraged them to find a mediator like a parent, older sibling, or
teacher to help them find the words.

Did you teach George to use his words and not his violence to solve
problems? It doesn't appear so. Did you teach him that killing other people for
profits and oil is ALWAYS wrong? Obviously you did not. I also used to wash my
children's mouth out with soap on the rare occasion that they lied...did you do
that to George? Can you do it now? He has lied and he is still lying. Saddam did
not have WMD's or ties with al-Qaeda and the Downing Street Memos prove that
your son knew this before he invaded Iraq.

On August 3rd, 2005, your son said that he killed my son and the other
brave and honorable Americans for a "noble cause." Well, Barbara, mother to
mother, that angered me. I don't consider invading and occupying another country
that was proven not to be a threat to the USA is a noble cause. I don't think
invading a country, killing its innocent citizens, and ruining the
infrastructure to make your family and your family-friendly war profiteers rich
is a noble cause.

So I went down to Crawford in August to ask your son what noble cause did
he kill my son for. He wouldn't speak with me. I think that showed incredibly
bad manners. Do you think a president, even if it is your son, should be so
inaccessible to his employers? Especially one of his bosses whose life George
has devastated so completely?

I have been to the White House several times since August to try and meet
with George and I am going back to Crawford next week. Do you think you can call
him and ask him to do the right thing and bring the troops home from this
illegal and immoral war in Iraq that he carelessly started? I hear you are one
of the few people he still talks to. He won't speak to his father, who knew the
difficulties and impossibilities of going into Iraq and that's why he didn't go
there in the 1st Gulf War. If you won't tell him to bring the troops home, can
you at least urge him to meet with me?

You said this in 2003, a little over a year before my dear, sweet Casey was
killed by your son's policies:

"Why should we hear about body bags and deaths? Oh, I mean, it's not
relevant. So why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?" (Good
Morning America, March 18, 2003)

Now I have something to tell you, Barbara. I didn't want to hear about
deaths or body bags either. On April 04, 2004, three Army officers came to my
house to tell me that Casey was killed in Iraq. I fell on the floor screaming
and begging the cruel Angel of Death to take me, too. But the Angel of Death
that took my son is your son.

Casey came home in a flag draped coffin on April 10th. I used to have a
beautiful mind, too. Now my mind is filled with images of seeing his beautiful
body in his casket and memories of burying my brave and honest boy before his
life really began. Casey's beautiful mind was ended by an insurgent's bullet to
his brain, but your son might as well have pulled the trigger.

Besides encouraging your son to have some honesty and courage and to
finally do the right thing, don't you think you owe me and every other Gold Star
parent an apology for that cruel and careless remark you made?

Your son's amazingly ignorant, arrogant, and reckless policies in Iraq are
responsible for so much sorrow and trouble in this world.

Can you make him stop? Do it before more mothers' lives are needlessly and
cruelly harmed. There have been too many worldwide already.

What in the world is going on with these Washington rethuglicans? Every time I turn on the TV, I see one or another of them, spouting the same line of bullshit, and trying to convince us that they have been honest with us.

Bush is upset, because the dems have accused him of lying to get us into the war (well, DUH!). He knows he lied. We know he lied. So, why is he still telling us he didn't lie? Because he knows he will be run out of town when the truth is finally known.

Cheney, with his infamous snarl firmly in place, is saying it is "reprehensible" for the dems to point out the truth about these lying bastards. What is "reprehensible", and what everyone should be angry about, is the way this administration has lied, and destroyed careers, and broken the law (ours AND the world's), just to make a little extra cash for their buddies.

I hope they have made a bundle out of all this, because I have a feeling they will need every penny for lawyer's fees. We may never know the whole truth. After all, we still don't know what part Bush (41) played in the Kennedy assassinations. We don't know how many kids were killed in the 60s, by LBJ, and Nixon, just because they were against an illegal, and immoral war. We don't know how many innocent civilians were burned up by the Willie Pete we used in Fallujah. We don't know how many have been tortured, in the name of OUR country, in Gitmo, and Abu Ghraib, and other points of interest in Eastern Europe. We just don't know everything these criminals have done, but we can see their results, and they stink.

A Curious Turn Of Events

Bob Woodward, on of my heroes, has come forward now, to let us know that he was also told about Valerie Plame, even before Robert ~~slimeball~~ Novak. It appears that he was given the information by none other that Stephen Hadley, our national security advisor.

Jesus Christ on a rubber crutch! Is there ANYONE in our administration that can still be trusted? If there is, how would we know?

These people have really gone out of their way to destroy our country. National security doesn't matter to them, ethics don't matter to them, it seems that they really do believe they are above the law.

I sincerely hope that, just like their champion, Richard Nixon, they are all going down in flames. Oh sure, they will posture, and opine, and cover up their heinous actions, but they will eventually be held responsible (first time for everything) for their crimes.

Number One (Hundred)

To celebrate my 100th post, representing 20 weeks, I was hoping for something really strong to report. I guess I got lucky, as yesterday, in an unprecedented move, the senate voted (79-11) to make Bush show them his plan. He, of course, said he was perfectly willing to lay out his plans, but he has lied to us before (make that ALL ALONG).

While it is nice to see the senators find their nuts, it is probably too little, too late. Where in the hell were all these brave men and women when Dubya was laying out his case for starting a war with someone who had never attacked us? Where were the questions when Cheney riffed about Saddam and Osama? Where was the outrage?

It's not like we can point to the administration, and say these "brilliant" people fooled us. I don't know very many people who were taken in by the lies, and misinformation. Yet, the votes were counted, and Dubya got his war.

I think it would be a great idea to have only the people who wanted the war - fighting the war. So, get your blue-haired, church-going grandma ready. She is going to fight the war her president wants fought. Get your right-wing, nutbag chickenhawks packed - they have a job to do. Michelle Malkin won't go unless you make her a general, so give the bitch a couple of stars, and send her ass to Iraq.

I realize that the people who supported the ~~assrag~~ president are not the cream of the crop, but that will just hasten the end of the conflict. If someone has to die, to make Halliburton a little extra money, let it be the assholes that want it!

The Veteran's Day Highjacking

Dubya gave his little speech on friday, and the media hung on his every word, as usual. Essentially, it was the same speech he gave the sunday before. He didn't do anything wrong. Iraq was a tremendous danger to us. Even the democrats, after seeing the intelligence they were allowed to see, were behind him. Blah, blah, blah.

This entire thing has gotten to the point that it is surreal. Bush lies, his pre-vetted audience cheers, and he lies some more. Then, Ken Mehlman, or some other party strokesman, comes on the talk shows, and repeats the lies. We have a few (!) cable news folks that will allow the lies to be spread far and wide. I don't want to mention any names, but Tim "Big-headed Boob" Russert, Bill "Bat-shit Crazy" O'Reilly, Monica "I Blew Nixon" Crowley, and her partner-in-crime Ron "Too Stoned To Think" Reagan, Tucker "I'm Smarter Than God" Carlson, and Wolf "Big Dog" Blitzer, would certainly make the list.

The point is, how do we get past the bullshit? How do we ever get them to stop lying, and come clean? An even larger question: can we ever get over it? Even if they all get hauled into court, and strung up in the public square. Does that really solve anything? I have seen some ask for just the truth, and they would be willing to see everyone pardoned, so long as they left office. I say, "NO!" Not now, not ever. If they started telling the truth now, we would not be able to believe it. They are liars, so they will lie. It's what they do. If we can prove they lied, then they should pay the same price as someone outside the white house would pay. 2060 (U. S. Military deaths in Iraq, as of this writing) charges of murder would make a good starting place.

Why Does Everyone Hate the Christians?

It's an obvious enough question. Why are the christians so persecuted? I was raised in a christian home. Personally, I attended catholic church (not my parents religion), until I was old enough to try a few different churches on my own. The ones I chose to try were all christian churches, and all had pretty much the same message - in church, that is. Outside of the building, things were different.

The carpenter, the building contractor, the plumber - were good, upstanding members of the church - Deacons, trusted men, who would solemnly pass the plate for offering. On monday morning, however, they would think nothing of padding their bill to you, or claiming to have fixed something they never touched. It was just business.

The good ladies of the church, always ready to donate their time, or a batch of cookies, would hang on every word from the pulpit. "Amen!" In unison, right on cue, they would let the preacher know he was appreciated, and the word, coming from him, could have fallen right from the lips of Jesus. After the service, and the socializing, they would go back to being themselves again. One might be having an affair with her husband's poker buddy. Another might have just a few too many nips of the cooking sherry, and pass out at the table. On laundry day, they would all get together, and talk about everyone's business, except their own.

The girls - they were special. Pious, devout, angelic creatures - surrounded with a dim halo of light, they would appear to be the very model of all that is decent - of all that is good. Ah, but, when the doors fo the church closed, and the lights went out, they became just girls again. Lusty, friendly, wonderful girls! First kisses that bore the taste of bake sale cupcakes. Those were the days.

I never saw any real harm in the church folks. I was raised to believe they were good, honest, god-fearing people, who would help you if you needed them. I had to get quite a few years behind me to understand how many lives have been taken, and destroyed, in the name of the church. How many wars have been fought, how many slaves have been taken, how many swindles have been perpetrated, how many crimes have been covered up. All in the name of the church - the holy representatives of heaven on lowly earth.

Now they are really going off the deep end. Pat Robertson calling for the assassination of a foreign leader, and calling a natural disaster a punishment from the lord. This crazy bastard has even told Dover that they can't expect any more help from the heavenly father, because they want their kids to learn the truth about nature, and the world. Some of them have resorted to convincing their congregations that a vote against the worst criminal ever to inhabit the white house would condemn them to everlasting torment.

Is it any wonder that they are so reviled? They deserve it!

Chalabi At-Large In Washington

Asking The Wrong Questions

Someone needs to put a plug in our government. I'm not talking about some sex toy, like a butt plug, although, that might be on the menu, too.

The leak of Valerie Plame's identity was a crime. A SERIOUS CRIME! Never mind the spin coming out of the repiglican party, that everyone knew she was CIA (they didn't), that outing her was not a crime (it was), that lying to the special prosector was within their rights (it wasn't).

Now, we learn that our government is maintaining secret torture sites around the world. ANOTHER SERIOUS CRIME! So, what does congress decide to investigate? Who leaked? Never mind that we are torturing people around the world, in the interest of our national security.

This administration is out of control. I have said it before, and I am certainly not the only one. We are never going to get control, until ALL these assholes are GONE.

UNELECT the Bush ~~clusterfuck~~ crime family. They have done more than enough harm, and it is LONG past time for them to go.

Introductions Are In Order

George, meet the Truth - Truth, this is George - we call him Dubya. I thought it would be nice for you two to meet. It is obvious that you have never been in the same room before.

I watched his ~~lie-o-rama~~ speech on monday, and I noticed that he was very careful to phrase things correctly. He said, "Anything we do ... to that end in this effort, any activity we conduct, is within the law". It sounds, at first hearing, that he is saying we don't break the law. WRONG! If that was what he meant, he could have said exactly that. Instead, he chose to give a carefully worded statement, that says ANYTHING WE DO IS WITHIN THE LAW.

So, it's been out there for a long time now, that the Bush administration considered itself above the law. Now we have it from the horse's ~~ass~~ mouth.

This entire administration is just shameful. They know they are wrong, and yet, they keep right on plugging. Any person who still supports these ~~assrags crooks liars thieves bastards~~ miscreants, is no longer worthy of respect. Any organization that still supports them is as corrupt as they are, and does not deserve the support of the american people. So, all you good christians out there, remember, as long as you support a corrupt, immoral government, YOU are corrupt. YOU are immoral. YOU have gotten the government you deserve.

Unacceptable

For five years, we have been assaulted by the spin, propaganda, and outright lies, spraying forth almost constantly from OUR white house. We have an administration that refuses to listen to the people who know what they are doing, they refuse to listen to the people they pretend to represent, they refuse to do the job they were "elected" to do. Consequently, we are in a war against an enemy that never threatened us. We are suffering from economic prolems that never needed to exist.

We have an entire sector of the country that now lives without hope. The jobs that sustained them are gone, shipped off to Asia, and South America. The jobs that are left are being given to people who weren't born here, never made the effort to become citizens, and all because they will work cheaper than the citizens of this country.

Bullshit! When MY job went to India, I looked very hard for another, but I was "over the hill", the wrong color, and just not acceptable. So, my kids suffered, and continue to suffer. It doesn't matter how many numbers the administration can spin to make it look like a recovery, my kids are living in poverty. All the recovery in the world can't take back the last four years that I have been jobless. All the spin they can come up with will not feed my children.

This is completely unacceptable to me. I wish it were unacceptable to everyone, but I guess SOME people are doing okay in this climate. More power to them. I hope they are in a position to give my kids jobs when it's their turn.

Only 5 Years Too Late

Well, it looks like our leader is finally going to pull his head partway out of his ass. They are planning to hold presentations dealing with ethics. The entire white house staff will have to attend. It's a shame they didn't hold these presentations BEFORE they destroyed the credibility of the white house. It would have been really nice if they had these briefings BEFORE they outed a covert agent, destroying years of undercover work by some REAL patriots. I wish they had decided to adhere to the "spirit as well as the letter" of all ethics laws and rules BEFORE they had broken every "rule of law" that was in place before they took office. So, Bush finally decides to take action, NOT the action he promised us last year, but action nonetheless. You're doing a great job, Georgie.

Another Bad Week

There seem to be a lot of bad weeks lately, at least, as far as the administration is concerned. We have seen Tom Delay push to get a new judge, and get one (another Democrat). We have seen Karl Rove run around like a cray man, trying to get the prosecutor to NOT file charges against him. We have seen Dick "Swinging Meat" Cheney lose his top aide to charges of outing Valerie Plame (which, by the way, never happened, according to the white house). We have watched in shock as the entire GOP scandal machine has been running wild, trying to put the correct "spin" on all the bad news.

With Bush's poll numbers in the toilet, along with most of his initiatives (right where they belong - with the rest of the shit), there is starting to be a little light at the end of the tunnel. His job approval is at 37%, which means we still have work to do. 37% of this country is NOT just stupid, they just haven't been shown the truth yet. So we now know who to reach out to, and it is just a matter of making them understand that the gays aren't trying to marry THEM, just one another. A guy could almost start to have faith again.

Uneasy Rests The Head

It has been interesting, watching Scott (The Lyin' King) McClellan do his little tapdance every day. Now, he is talking about the "trust" he has built with the media, and with the american people.

Scott, wake up, honey! There is NO trust - not among the press, not among the people you serve. We all see what you are, and what you are doing. No one is impressed with your act. No one thinks you are handing out the truth, or anything that even resembles the truth.

It is time to replace the administration. It would be nice to have some honest people in the white house, to try to clean up the mess that is being left by these idiots. Getting Scooter out of there was a good start, but it is not nearly enough. I believe we should replace Scott next - with someone that won't lie to us.

Then we can look into getting Cheney some time off. With his medical problems, he should be looking forward to a little time off. Dubya has brush to clear, so he should feel relieved, too. He should be able to find an entire white house FULL of loyal friends. Many hands make light work.

Sold Down The River

I have heard all the crap about Bush being "isolated", and "insulated", but all the evidence points to a treasonous administration. These people are out of control. There are people working in the white house, OUR white house, that have violated national security in a huge way.

All the spin in the world can't change the fact that Valerie Plame was a covert agent, and in an act of revenge, the Bush administration made it a point to out her, costing not just her job, but very possibly the lives of the very people trying to keep us safe. This is a BIG crime, much worse than Watergate, worse than Iran-Contra. I put it on a level with the Kennedy assassination. Even in that debacle, only a few people were killed. This time around, we have untold thousands of deaths.

For the good of the country, the entire administration needs to step aside, and let the country start to heal from the damage that they have done. Either that, or I guess we will have to drag them off to jail, on at a time.

What Should Happen Now

If the white house had nothing to hide, all the rumors, and speculation, could be avoided by simply opening up the operation to investigators. Let a non-partisan, with the proper security clearances, take a look at everything, and decide based on the evidence.

If the white house had nothing to hide, they would not feel the need to get the right "spin" out. The truth would serve, if the white house were truthful.

If the white house had nothing to hide, they would not have to attack anyone who opposed, or even disagreed, with them. They would not need to smear their opponents, from a distance.

If the white house had nothing to hide, they would not have needed Judy Miller, Robert Novak, William Kristol, or any of the other myriad voices barking the "party line". They could have sent Scott into the briefing room to tell the truth.

If the white house had nothing to hide, Harriett Miers might have been more than just a distraction. Releasing the papers requested by congress should have put a quick end to any opposition. Unless there is something in the papers that they don't want us to know.

When Patrick Fitzgerald made his announcement on friday, he made it clear that A CRIME WAS COMMITTED! He said he feels he can prove that Scooter is guilty of obstructing the investigation into exactly who committed that crime, but there is no doubt that the crime was committed.

For the sake of our great nation, the nation they claim to serve loyally, everyone involved in this scandal should step down. They should step aside in the interest of upholding the principles of our country. We, as americans, have always thought of ourselves as a moral beacon for the world. We have always been proud of the fact that we were known for fair play, and generously helping those in need. Now, we need to ask the gang of thugs that occupy the white house to get out of the way. They have created enough problems. It will take decades to even BEGIN to repair our image in the eyes of the rest of the world.

So, Dick, Dubya, Turdblossom, and the rest of the WHIG criminals MUST step aside, and let the healing start.

Monster On The Loose

I have been following the news for a good while now, and one thing jumps out at me. It is amazing how completely the current culture of greed, and corruption, has taken over our nation's capitol. I can't imagine how the residents of D.C. manage to walk the streets with the horrible stench that must come from the center of our government. This is not just an anti-republican post, but I am afraid it is going to show you just how far I lean to the left.

Many years ago, in another time, a visionary named John Kay wrote a song. He called it "Monster", and the recording was one of my prized possessions. I used to listen to that record, stoned on my ass, and I would think how lucky we are to live in a country where that could never happen. It told a story of a land that was populated by religious people, "the hunted, the weary", seeking freedom. In the process of carving out a life in this new land, they disenfranchised the people who already lived there. They deprived people of their religious rights, and even kept slaves, all the while believing they were behaving as "good christians".

Once they had thrown of the bonds of their mother country, they pushed westward, slaughtering the indiginous people in their path. Inevitably, corruption took over, and the people were no longer protected by the police, but rather, they learned to fear them. The leaders tried to remold the entire world in their image, starting wars when they couldn't enforce the changes they required. They did not believe that other nations should be allowed to make decisions for themselves.

There's a MONSTER on the LOOSE!

Okay, I know what you are thinking. He was talking about US - the United States of America - and he was right. But to me, an idealogical, somewhat rebellious young man, I saw only the positive side of all this. Sure, the country frequently fell into the hands of corrupt leaders, and things got a little weird. People always seemed to realize what was going on, and remove those leaders from power. Through elections, and occasionally, through stronger measures, those corrupt officials have been weeded out. This time, however, I am afraid. This time, I fear that John Kay's vision has actually come to pass. There truly IS a MONSTER on the LOOSE!

Why?

As I was catching the latest "news" on MSNBC this morning, it struck me that George Bush is finally being forced to make decisions that are reasonable. My question is, "Why?" Why now? Why did it take so damn long for him to realize that he is has been screwing up royally since he first stole the presidency?

Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination for supreme court justice. That is a GOOD thing. She was never qualified to be a justice, only a "pal" to the president. Bacon-Davis has been reinstated, after Bush realized he had stirred up a hornet's next by screwing the workers in that beleagured area. With indictments looming in the near future, "business as usual" seems to be slowing down. No one has been attacking the patriotism of potential candidates. The social security ripoff has been pushed off the table.

It appears that the political capitol that was built up has now been spent. The Bush white house is dead in the water. I'm sure they will try to squeeze out a few more perks for the rich, and a few more no bid contracts for their "buds", but, for the most part, it looks like the Bush regime is drawing to a close. I doubt we will get to see Dubya handcuffed, and led away to his execution, but his time in power is coming to a close, long before his term is up. I couldn't be happier.

Waiting For Fullness

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald may be bringing indictments this week. We have been waiting for this for over two years now, and we may soon know who did what, when.

There has been incredible speculation over just what went on. Testimony has been given, and repeated, and all the investigation should be done. We should know this week. For the first time since the corrupt Reagan administration, there may be top-level government figures being fingerprinted and booked into jail.

We have waited a long time for the culmination of this case, and hopes are high on both sides of the aisle. And so, we wait. I have tried to take a "wait and see" attitude, but I have to admit, I REALLY want to see Karl Rove go down. Scooter Libby is a peripheral character. The REAL players are Bush, Cheney, and the other top officials, who seem to have the belief that they can do no wrong. Hopefully, they will learn a lesson this week.

It's Impossible To Watch Without Seeing The Lies

I have tried to watch Dubya give his little "speeches". I have focused on the tv, taking in every word. Still, now that I know how he lied, and stole an election, I can't watch him. Now that I know how he fed us faked intelligence, and led us to an unholy war, I can't watch him. Now that I know how he says one thing, while sending out his minions to do exactly the opposite of what he says, I can't watch him.

I can't watch him posture, and pose, and spew out words that HE KNOWS are false. This drugstore cowboy - this swaggering thug - this piss-poor excuse for a president - has no business in the world's most powerful office. He has no business leading people, when he can't even lead himself. He has no business taking up space in the white house, when what this country really needs is a REAL president. When what this nation needs is someone with vision.

I have stopped watching again, and it may be a long time before I allow ~~the bastard~~ George Bush to darken my tv screen. I am fed up with the lies, the killing, the hatred, the division - I am fed up with the whole government. It will be interesting to see what happens when the grand jury disbands, but as long as there is a crooked way to handle it, it will be handled by the crooked administration that has taken over our government. No TRUTH will be allowed to escape. No JUSTICE will be available for us. As for THE AMERICAN WAY - look around you. What you see is what you get, and it won't be getting any better.

How Much Longer?

More information is dribbling into the "news", concerning the lies that got us into the war. More details on the corrupt assholes that have lied, and cheated, and stolen elections, and now they still expect us to support them. Sheesh! What do they take us for? Do they really think we are so stupid that we are going to listen to anything they have to say now?

I am just hoping that Patrick Fitzgerald manages to slow them down enough to pick them off. They need to be gone, and SOON, before they do any more damage.

This is what has been missing from our media. They don't present the facts. They give you arguments from both sides, in matters where there shouldn't BE two sides. They don't dig up the facts!

Our white house press corps is the worst. They take whatever the administration hands them, and present it to us as news. At the very least, they should look up what Scotty said, when he DID talk about anything, and throw it in his face. Every time he says he has answered a question before, they should dig up what he said before, then ask him if he still feels that same way, or if things have changed.

The "talking shitheads" on cable news are horrible too. A legimate newsperson would dig up the TRUTH, and present it to their public. They have lost my trust. They have lost my attention. Hopefully, they will become a thing of the past, when everyone stops watching them.

I am now searching for a newshound. I am going to find someone who digs, who probes, who questions, and then presents the honest truth. I have a feeling I will be looking for a long, long, time.

2008 - Another Election To Steal

Everyone suspected, in 2000, that there were forces at work behind the scenes. We just KNEW, when Karen ~~Huge~~ Hughes stood in front of the tv cameras and lied, that the REAL power in this country, the courts, would make sure things were handled properly. We just KNEW that Al Gore would be president, and the nightmare of the current administration would NEVER happen. We were wrong.

In 2004, we got a very instructive lesson in how, even with the light of the information age shining in their eyes, the republicans were able to steal another election. Corruption is wrong, it is terrible, and it is against everything this country USED to stand for. But, it is now a part of the poilitical landscape, in ways that it never was before. The crooks are operating out in the open, not fearing the scorn of their constituents, unafraid of special prosecutors, and seemingly unaware that they are even doing anything wrong.

I think that is one of the most important points in all this. They KNOW they are wrong. They KNOW they are committing crimes against the country, against the constitution, and against the very people they pretend to serve. Yet, they seem to NOT KNOW! This seeming is what passes for morality these days. This pretense that everything is "business as usual" is the grease that keeps the gears turning.

We face another election process in 2008, and the republican "voter disenfranchisment machine" will be operating at full speed. The "smear the good guy" machine will be speading shit as fast, and as far, as they can. The voting machines will be rigged, the operators will be bribed, and the votes will be counted by the same people that worship in a hotel room with Harriet Miers. After all that, if we are able to scrape up even votes to question the results, the "supremes" will take it out of our hands. Nasty-ass coke can guy, will pocket enough money to finance his extensive remodeling project, and his vote ~~bought and paid for~~ will go to the republicans. "Hey, Dick, when we gonna kill some more birds?" boy will line his robes with some cash, and drop his vote to the right. Dread Justice Roberts will taunt Justice Ginsburg, not allowing her to actually vote, only giving her joke flash paper to write up her dissension, and then touching it off with his smelly cigar. All in all, it should be a fun time for the right-wing nutjobs, unless something is done to break their stranglehold on our political process.

A few indictments will help, but it isn't enough. Bush knew that Karl Rove had outed Valerie Plame, yet he lied to the country about it. Cheney knew, and probably instigated the entire affair, and he lied about it, too. All to get us to fight a war we never should have started, against an enemy that was no danger to us at all, with too few troops to fight it properly, for reasons that didn't exist. Yes, an indictment here and there would be nice, but it won't solve the REAL problem. It won't end the culture of corruption in our nation's capital. The only way to do that is for the PEOPLE to stand up, and demand an accounting from those who seek to represent us.

Talking Points

Nothing can make the little hairs on my arm stand up, like hearing a stream of talking points coming from some conservative "spokespenis".

A statement that has been cultivated, to achieve the best possible effect, may be a great tool for convincing people that black is really white, but it does a HUGE disservice. For one thing, black is NOT white. No matter how you spin it, black is black. If you are able to convince a small group of people that it is white, that speaks more to the quality of thought in the subjects. Black is STILL not white, no matter how many stupid people you cram into a room, and bombard with carefully crafted lies.

I think the biggest problem in america today, is the fact that no one reports the truth anymore. One side spews propaganda, then the other side spews their OWN propaganda, then the reporter looks at you with earnest goodwill, and invites you to "make up your own mind". Very fair, very balanced, but absolutely WRONG!

What happened to reporters who would dig, and question, and get to the TRUTH? Who would then put their entire career, and their credibility, on the line, and report the TRUTH? Where have they gone? Oh, Joe Rossi, we need you now.

Tom Delay - More Harm Than Good

With any luck, we will have the bugman's mug shot to look at over the weekend. At least, that is what the judge's coordinator tells us. No one gets out of the booking process.

All that is well, and good (fantastic, actually!), but Delay's people have been running ads. Oh my, they have some ads. Ronnie Earle (according to the Delay Defense Team) has let his prosecutorial duties fall by the wayside. Vicious rapists, robbers, and drug dealers, are walking around free, because Ronnie has ignored their crimes, in order to persecute poor Tom Delay. BULLSHIT!! Ronnie Earle is attacking Tom Delay because he has a personal vendetta against the bug killer. HORSE PUCKEY!! The "crime" that Tom Delay is being accused of - is not even really a crime. Everyone does it. RABBIT RAISINS!!

It is an obvious attempt to corrupt the juror pool. I would hate to think that the people of Texas are dumb enough to fall for this crap, but Dubya WAS elected governor. So, I suppose anything is possible.

One thing is for sure. If it works, and Delay walks away from all of this with his job, and his freedom, and wads of cash spoiling the line of his suit, then it will be trotted out to defend all the other crooks that seem to inhabit the republican party these days. I have to wonder. Are there really THAT MANY crooks in politics these days? Does that mean that the music industry is actually cleaner than the political system? Only time will tell.

Yesterday, while I was watching Connected on MSNBC (a truly ahorrent show), I heard a republican "talking shithead" claiming that Bush didn't lie to get us into the war. Ron sat there, like the little bitch he is, and let the asshole get away with it.

Once, and for all, let's get it straight people! Bush, and his lying spin doctors, wove a web of lies, and sold it to the american sheeple, to get us into that war. That is a matter of fact! It has been shown to be true many times over, and all the spin in the world isn't going to make it go away. Adding more lies, on top of the ones we have already been fed, is not going to clean up the fact that BUSH LIED!

How much more do we have to take? How much longer can they lie, like the dogs they are, and still maintain the power that they stole in 2000? How much more crap do we have to hear, before we can send the whole bunch of dishonest, thieving bastards back where they came from? Do we really have to put them in prison to make it stop?

This is a great country, even though we have lost most of our credibility in the eyes of the world. My most fervent wish is to see us regain our status in the world. It is never going to happen, as long as we have a corrupt political machine controlling things.

Oh, and for the religious fanatics (James Dobson, Richard Reed, et. al.) - GET YOUR ASSES OUT OF OUR GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS - NOW! Or start paying taxes. Your choice, assholes!

Judicial Activism

I have been hearing Bush, and his spin machine, harping on judges who "legislate from the bench". They have been very careful to stay on their "talking points", and not allow any real discussion of the merits, or demerits, of particular candidates.

I got a glimpse of what they have been talking about, when Justice Thomas, in a fit of activism, basically ordered a young woman to have her unwanted child. Oh sure, he didn't take her into a room, and twist her arm. He didn't stand between her and her abortionist. He didn't kick the doctor in the nuts, rendering him incapable of performing said abortion, but he prevented it nonetheless.

I don't understand the desire of the nutbag right to force women to have babies they don't want, can't care for, and shouldn't have, but it is out there. They don't intend to raise the children, but they insist that they be born. It is just crazy!

Whirling Dervish

With Karl Rove appearing before the grand jury again today, the "spin" in Washington is whirling like crazy. It has been interesting to watch the white house back away from their earlier statements, concerning what they will do if he is found to have acted improperly.

First, the prez said he would remove anyone who leaked the name of Valerie Plame. Then he stated that he would remove anyone who had acted improperly. That morphed into a statement that he would get rid of anyone who had broken the law. Now, with Karl and Scooter looking like a sure bet for prison, he is considering moving his office closer to the prison. That way, they can still do their jobs.

This administration has played fast and loose with the law, and when the dust settles, several of these crooks may actually have to answer for their actions. That would be unusual, and refreshing.

Keith Olbermann Takes It To the Administration

Keith pointed this out on his show yesterday, and tied it all up in a nice package. Anytime there is bad news for the Bushitters, it is followed by a terror alert. They are out to get us, and, no, I don't mean alQaeda.

The white house has played fast and loose with the truth for too long. We need these people to stop lying, and start doing the job they were hired to do. Our government may not be drowning in the bathtub yet, but it is getting pruney, and no one seems to be trying to get it out of the water. It can't be long now.

For all the people who voted for Dubya, expecting him to protect you from the gay, married terrorists, how do you like him now? Do you feel any safer? If you are lucky enough to still have a job, you are probably too busy just trying to survive to even think about it. We can't afford for you to vote again without thinking things through. I watched Texas go downhill when Bush was our governor. I watched the Supremes give him the election, probably after a late-night call from Bush (41), or some other representative of the CIA coup machine. I have been watching the destruction of our country, and our credibility, and it makes me sick.

Before you step into another godamn voting booth, THINK! We can't afford to get it wrong next time around, if there IS a next time.

Drivin' That Train - High On Cocaine

Sometimes it feels like being on a runaway train, driven by a madman, populated by wild-eyed maniacs, screaming, "Go, man, go!", and "Stay the course!" Just waiting for the elections to take care of the problem is ridiculous. For one thing, we don't have real elections in this country anymore. Diebold, and the right-wing election machine have seen to that. Even if we DID count all the votes, we will run out of track long before the results could be made known.

No, waiting for the election cycle is counter-productive. We need to be pro-active. We have to act, and we have to act NOW!

Our government has been on a tear, snorting the really good shit, and running things like a larger, better-funded version of the druglords. I can see Bush, sitting in the oval office, a few lines on the desk in front of him. He sits there, in the dark, his hand carressing the grip of his presidential pistol. Every now and then, he picks up the phone, and gives a friend a sweet job, knowing they will fail, but not caring, because he is the "capo".

Protest Is A Dangerous Business

In the sixties and early seventies, protestors were beaten, jailed, shot, hosed, slimed, and generally treated like shit. It was dangerous to disagree with the administration, even though they were crooks, even though they were wrong, in just about every way imaginable.

Now we have another VERY corrupt bunch of crooks running our country. They are destroying our government, on purpose. They are creating a national debt that will bankrupt the nation, and we used to be the richest country in the world. They are raping our civil rights, in the name of making things "safer", with absolutely no sign that we ARE any safer now. They have sent our jobs to other countries, given huge tax breaks to the very rich, at the expense of everyone else, tried to kill social security.

It is incredible what they have manged to screw up in just five years, but they are nowhere near done yet. If you dare to lift your voice against them, the response is swift, and devastating. You will lose your job, or your credibility, or possibly your life. The march in Washington, a few weeks ago, was a dangerous place to be, if you could get there at all.

Bill O'Reilly Gives Lousy Talking Head

When all the other talking heads on Faux News have had their noses rubbed in their lies, and have grudgingly admitted that they MIGHT be SOMEWHAT wrong, Bill ~~Lying Piece of Crap~~ O'Reilly goes on ignoring the facts, and spews his brand of untruth-encrusted shit. I don't dislike the man, but that is because I have never actually met him. I feel sure that I could detest him easily, if I were simply given the oppportunity.

Now he has taken up arms against bloggers. Way to go, big network news man! Give those bloggers hell! Let them find out just what happens when you cross a legend in the lies-for-money field. Um, what IS going to happen? Should I get another email address ready, just in case Bill decides to get Yahoo to cancel the one I have? Should I setup a stealth blog, pretending to be conservative, so that I will have a place to write when Bill shuts us all down? I guess it wouldn't hurt to be prepared, but I'm not going to hurry. Surely he is too busy lying, and sexually harrassing his co-workers, to bother with us.

Love It Or Leave It

My dad had the bumper sticker. America - Love it or LEAVE it! Nixon suggested they get the labor unions to beat protesters senseless. Every dirty trick you can imagine was used, threat, intimidation, smears. They even went so far as to plant rumors (in the news, of course) that the "hippies" were planning to spike the water supply (everywhere) with LSD. Never mind that it wouldn't work, was impossible to coordinate, and would have been prohibitively expensive. Quite a few kids had to leave home over that one. I was in the service at the time, completely surrounded by right-wing extremists, and I couldn't understand why they weren't shocked at the news. For some reason, they accepted everything that was said about the left as fact, even though the truth was right in their faces.

Now fast-forward about 35 years, and we still have the same situation. Anyone who disagrees with the way things are being run is a "traitor". If you speak up against the political machine, you are smeared, destroyed, hung out to dry. It is time to take back our country from these bastards. If that isn't possible, because of the problems involved with getting a REAL count on the votes, perhaps we should consider 2 americas. I would hate to see our great country split up like the kids in a divorce, but we may not have a choice. Can't live with them, CAN live without them. Personally, I am thinking about moving to New Orleans, once they get it rebuilt.

We still have a crook in charge of the white house, and in charge of the senate, a new crook running the house. So, it seems that, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The "outing" of Valerie Plame is not going to be resolved. There is a huge security leak in the administration, but no one seems to care enough to fix the problem. Of course, that might be because there is no one left in Washington who can actually stand up to the smear machine long enough to get the crooks out of office.

I remember being upset, in the sixties, about the direction our country was taking. As a citizen, you have little recourse, and very little say in how the government is run. Let's face it, they killed the Kennedys, escalated a war that they knew was wrong, and suggested physical harm to anyone who would dare protest their actions. So, now we reap the benefits of having lived in a fascist state. We have no say in our own governance. The founding fathers must be spinning in their graves.

Special Treatment?

What has Tom Delay ever done that entitles him to special treatment in the eyes of the law. Yesterday, a couple of hours after his indictment was announced, I saw him on tv, fighting his case in front of the entire nation, some of whom are potential jurors in his criminal case.

Since when do we allow accused criminals to influence the jury before the trial? Since when does the accused get to talk trash about the prosecutor? For that matter, why didn't they arrest him before announcing his indictment to the world?

It looks like "The Hammer" has more pull than he should be allowed to have.

Hammer-Time

I watched all the coverage of Tom Delay with a great deal of interest. He is, in my opinion, the perfect example of the culture of corruption which seems to have taken over the republican party. Now this tough-talking, tall-walking, leader of men, is facing an indictment for conspiracy, involving the illegal manipulation of corporate donations. You would think that, knowing he is under scrutiny for his other illegal activities, he would be more careful. But, there you have it, he was caught, once again, with his hand in the cookie jar.

You can't be too hard on him, though. He is just playing like the other kids. No one is more corrupt than Dick Cheney, and Bill Frist is having legal problems of his own. If we were just talking about moral corruption, then George W. Bush would have to take the lead. Karl Rove is no altar boy, either. It will be interesting to watch Scotty "The Lyin' King" McClellan spin his ass off over the next couple of weeks. Then he can deal with the Rove indictments. This is shaping up to be an interesting fall.

Mike Brown - A Failure To Respond

While watching the probe into FEMA's piss-poor response to hurricane Katrina, I was shocked to hear Mike Brown say that he had done everything he was supposed to do. That FEMA had everything in place, and it was just the mayor, and the governor, who screwed things up. That is just shameless!

The federal response to the disaster, with thousands of people in danger, was slow, feeble, and just not enough. The Coast Guard came in, without orders, and did a great job of helping people get out. The police hung in there as long as they could. What we needed was the National Guard (most of whom are in Iraq), moving in to restore order, and get those people out of there.

Just leaving them to drown, while Bush figured out how to spin the storm, was WRONG! The fact that I feel compelled to say that, is proof that there wasn't enough done. Now, this idiot, who had to resign last week, turns out to still be drawing a paycheck - for work he is incapable of doing. There should be a special place in the federal prison system for this asshole.

Another Fine Mess

When I saw this story at Wonkette, I thought it would give me a chance to write about something that doesn't involve the corrupt assholes in the government.

Boy, was I ever wrong! I can't even consider the gulf without thinking about how the "compassionate conservatives" went out of their way to let people drown, and starve. I can't get past the fact that, while the beautiful city of jazz, and food, and fun, was drowning, due to a refusal of those who were charged with protecting her to properly fund the steps that needed to be taken to provide that protection, those same fuckers sat on their hands, unable to mobilize anything in support of a city full of stranded, and endangered, citizens. Shameless!

So, a story about dolphins, escaped, killer, military trained dolphins, may seem cute at first glance. Then, it occurs to you that, not only are these crazy mammals trained to kill people, and loose in the Gulf of Mexico, they are actually ARMED!

Maybe we can count on Donalrd Rumsfeld, and a few of his top minds, to swim out and disarm their creations. That would go a long way toward showing the people that we can count on our military leadership.

Monday Morning

Well, it is another fresh week of the Bush administration's 5-year program to destroy America. Things are going well, the hurricanes have done their damage, some folks have been abandoned, and drowned. The response seemed a little better this time around. It just makes me wonder how many people could have been saved in New Orleans. How many lives didn't have to be destroyed, if we had just responded then, the way we have responded this time. Maybe if Bush (41), and his lovely wife, had lived in New Orleans, we wouldn't have had to see all those incredible scenes.

At least, this time, the coward of Crawford is planning to stay out of the way, while keeping informed. Much better than last time! Really, at this point, Bush is bleeding political capitol. He is dealing with a situation where he is "damned if you do, damned if you don't". Personally, I think he deserves whatever he gets. When you undertake to screw the people, when you bite the hand that feeds you, you EARN whatever comes your way.

He is WAY down in the polls. He, and his 40 thieves, are under attack from all sides. Even his friends in the senate avoid him in the government cafeteria. It just seems like the shit, just like the corpses, is being Piled Higher and Deeper on Commander Crappypants.

Don't get me wrong, I am not feeling sorry for him. I think he deserves whatever he gets. He lied to us, got us into a costly, unnecessary war, gave away our children's futures. The list just goes on, and on. The people he surrounds himself with are NOT guiltless, and the stain of this administration should paint them ALL! If we had done that with the mega-corrupt Nixon clusterfuck, maybe we wouldn't be dealing with this mess right now.

Think about Washington without Pat Buchanan, G. Gordon Liddy, or Ed (I blew the president) Cox, just to name a few.

Cindy Sheehan Back In The News

Cindy showed up, and gave a speech, at Union Square in New York City. Everything went fine, until the brave boys in blue of the NYPD snatched her off the stage, roughing her up, and arresting her for not having a permit. Never mind the fact that the city had refused to even return a phone call, stonewalling the scheduled event. I always thought New Yorkers were brash, but stand-up people. I guess that doesn't extend to New York politicians. Tammany would be proud of you Mayor Bloomberg. I, on the other hand, think you are a pile of shit, but that is just my opinion.

Rebuilding New Orleans

I believe they WILL rebuild the city, and I hope they give a LOT of consideration to keeping the flood waters from washing her away again. The question I have concerns the life in New Orleans. There are a lot of things they can do to make the city better than it was, but can they make it attract the musicians back to the delta?

Right now, Dr. John, and Winton Marsalis, and around 1/2 million other players, are wandering around loose. They need a place to play. They need an audience, and they need it soon. I am afraid the music will simply go somewhere else. Austin has inherited some good people, Dallas and Houston will absorb some. Some will wander off to play in Bramson, and Atlanta, and some might make it as far as New York. But it will leave a huge hole in the music of the south, which had it's hub in New Orleans.

We need to make sure that there are places to play, and places to hear great music, or the Mississippi River delta will become just another place that has ships. That would be a terrible shame.

Assumption of Good Faith

When we give power to an individual, as in an election, or assigning a critical job, there is the assumption that the person will act in good faith. As we have seen, that is not always a true assumption. People can take a job, or an assignment, and act in bad faith, leaving no recourse but to remove them from their position.

That is the sorry state we find ourselves in right now. Priests, police officers, military commanders, political officers, we NEED these people to act in good faith. We know that people will be people, and they can't ALL be trusted. Religious leaders should NEVER lie to the people who believe in them, but they do. Priests should NEVER molest children, but it happens. Policemen should NEVER arrest someone that hasn't committed a crime, and yet, these arrests take place on a regular basis.

These things happen, and there are procedures in place for addressing them, not always effective, but at least we have a way of dealing with them.

So, what happens when an administration lies? What recourse is there when a president stands before his public, and tells the lies he feels he needs to tell to accomplish his agenda? What procedures do we have to protect us from corruption at the highest level in our country? We have impeachment, and criminal charges, both of which should be applied to everyone who steps outside the line of public trust. I am looking forward, finally, to seeing how this current situation plays out. I can't imagine Gee Dubya, and his rat's nest, getting away with murder any more. I see a serious problem with these nasty, dishonest leaders, and I fully expect the american people to stand up and DEMAND satisfaction. I can't wait!

Something That Went Right

Everyone has been screaming about how badly the Bush administration did in response to Katrina, and I have yelled as loud as the loudest. It occurred to me, though, that there were things that went absolutely right with the response. I am, of course, talking about the U. S. Coast Guard, and the amazing job they did rescuing people who were stranded on the gulf coast.

I spent 4 years in the Guard in the late sixties. I have mixed feelings about my time in the service, but I have always felt pride when I recall some of the rescue missions. We were badass when it came to pulling people out of the water, or getting their boat back safely, and it appears that nothing has changed. If anything, they look better at it than we did. Smoother, more professional, the modern day Guardsman is a hero - waiting to spring into action.

Will History Tell The True Story Of The Bushes?

Will there be a library dedicated to "Poppy" Bush? A place where all the political dirty tricks are listed? All the coups, and the "black ops", will they, too, find a voice when the history books are written?

Will there be books about the "old man", outlining his financial help for the nazis? Will there be a special chapter in the Social Studies textbooks, pointing out where George W. Bush made his wrong turns? How he led his nation into a war-for-profit, cooking the intelligence, to make it look like he had a legitimate reason to invade? How he allowed a CIA operative to be outed, just because her husband disagreed with him? How he partied, and speechified, while people were drowning, and starving, and dying of thirst?

Will there be special memorials that show Barbara Bush kicking poor people? Showing Laura driving her car into her ex-boyfriend, witha maniacal gleam in her eye?

I have to wonder if the world will ever know the Bush family the way we have come to know them. You have to admit, they are an interesting bunch.

Dodged A Bullet?

Where in the hell was Bush getting his news about the hurricane? On monday, he made the following statement.

"What I was referring to is this: When that storm came by, a lot of people said we dodged a bullet. When that storm came through at first, people said, Whew. There was a sense of relaxation. And that's what I was referring to.
And I myself thought we had dodged a bullet. You know why? Because I was listening to people probably over the airwaves say, The bullet has been dodged. And that was what I was referring to.
Of course, there were plans in case the levee had been breached. There was a sense of relaxation at a critical moment."

While people died, and cried, Bush had a "sense of relaxation". Very telling, indeed!

Which Way To America?

I am lost. I admit it. When I was a young boy, growing up in San Antonio, I knew where I was. I was living in the "Great State of Texas", a place that had fought, and won, it's freedom from Mexico, and freely joined the United States of America. We learned that in civics class. I learned plenty of other things too. I learned that we, as a state, valued freedom, moral values, independence, and the rights of the individual to live his (or her) life without interference from the government. As long as you followed the rules, didn't drink and drive, didn't steal from others, didn't kill people, you were okay. Enjoy your life.

We were staunch democrats, believing that the republicans would take away our freedoms, and make us all follow a different set of rules. No one told me that we would be taken over by a regime that devalued humanity, and divided us into separate camps, according to how much money your daddy made. When I learned that Ann Richards, who I just loved, was a lesbian, who regularly drank too much, and had sex orgies with illegal immigrants, I was shocked. Not so much by the nature of the accusations, but because I had always thought that people from Maine, and the filthy politics that go with them, tended to STAY in Maine, and screw up THAT part of the country.

Why were they down here, messing up OUR state? Well, it was because there isn't a lot of money to be made screwing people that don't have any oil, so we inherited the rotten bastards. Then, after Dubya had gotten his edumacation, he joined the rest of his clan in Houston. The frat boy obviously got bored with running the Texas Rangers into the ground, so he tried his hand at politics, and so, our troubles began. Luckily, he decided to shoot for the white house after only one term as governor, so the state wasn't completely destroyed, but plenty of damage was done. I have always wondered if his being "elected" had anything to do with supplying Justice Rehnquist with Placidyl.

Now, as president, he has a stack of corpses to account for, and we are still getting the same old silent treatment. We need a leader, not a frat boy. We need a president, not a cowardly draft dodger. We need someone who will protect america, and the lives of our people, not a preposterous ape, who will hide from his responsibilities in a petulant snit. The repugnicans were up in arms over Bill Clinton getting his ashes hauled, but they continue to support Bush, even though he has lied us into a VERY expensive war. They support him, even though he has tried to spend us into oblivion. They support him as he gives away lucrative contracts to companies with ties to the white house, and to the funeralgate scandal, which was the best-known scandal during Bush's time in the texas governor's office. Now, they are continuing to support him, even though he tried to blackmail the governor of Louisiana into turning the state over to him. It was very revealing, learning that Bush had troops withhold their help, and wait just outside of the disaster area. Meanwhile he tried to get her to turn over control of her state to him. Figuratively dancing around, poking Kathleen Blanco with a stick, and not letting her out of the pool. Just like a spoiled kid, imagine that!

Impeachment is no longer an option. His entire administration needs to be removed from power. A complete, across the board, recall election is the ONLY answer. At every level, each senate seat, each representative, and the white house mob, we need to ELECT people who will govern according to the will of the people. Phony elections, Diebold results, are not acceptable. We can't even count on the supremes to interpret the constitution anymore, that became obvious when they gave the presidency to Bush in the first place. We need a brand new government, and let's get a REAL one this time.

What George Bush Believes

Who the hell knows what he REALLY believes? I don't, although I have heard him tell us all what he believes on several occasions. The problem is that NO ONE can really know what is in his heart, except him, and his creator. So, we have to go by what he SAYS he believes.

He tells us, in just about every speech he gives, that he believes americans want a president that is well rested, or that americans want privatized social security, or that americans want us to fight them over there, so we don't have to fight them here. It makes me wonder just WHO these americans are that are telling him that. He never seems to listen to people who are trying to tell him anything he doesn't want to hear, and yet, somehow, he knows what we want? How does he manage that?

I think he is just saying that he believes things, so that his followers will start believing the same thing. That is leadership, George Bush style. It's a shame he doesn't really KNOW what we americans want, because he had enough power to make sure we got it. Instead, he used that power to try to drive us into national bankruptcy. He used it to try to saddle us with laws that read more like some deranged fundamentalist's view of the "perfect society".

Well, I believe we should all be free. Free - to enjoy our lives without interference. Free - to have sex with whomever, however we like. Free - to work at jobs that don't disappear to India. Free - to elect our representatives. I believe that more of us want that than there are who want the government in our bedrooms, or sending our jobs overseas, or giving our money away to people who already have more than they can spend, while some of us starve in the streets. I believe that americans wanted George Bush to get food, and water, and medical help, to the people that were trapped in the aftermath of the hurricane. I do NOT believe that americans wanted him to delay the aid getting to those people, that we wanted him to keep people from leaving the area, that we wanted him to cut the funding that might have saved the levees, that we wanted him to blackmail the governor of Louisiana by witholding his support. I certainly don't believe we wanted him to stay on vacation, and flit around the country, while people died. Americans aren't like that, and the ones that are, really shouldn't be allowed to call themselves american. Maybe we could put them all on an island somewhere, and call them assholes.

The Blame Game

I have been hearing republicans puking up the same lines, all saying "we don't want to play the Blame Game", while trying to point their fingers at any, and all, liberals. I think this shows one of the major problems with poilitics today. To them, it is a game, with a winner, and a loser. They keep score! If you don't believe they do, get Barbara Bush drunk one afternoon, and you will learn a little something about grudges. Better yet, say something about her ridiculous presidential son, and you will see her beady eyes swivel around, determining if there are any witnesses that can't be killed, or bought off. You had better hope there are, because you won't survive otherwise, her husband says so.

For us this is NOT a game. It is our country. We love our nation, and it hurts us to see it used, abused, and degraded. It causes us pain to see our hard-earned money go to pay for an immoral war, while the rich get HUGE tax breaks, allowing them to buy another weekend home. It makes us angry when someone subverts the system, which is there to protect us ALL, for their own ends. If you install a leader, the will of the people should always be the driving force. No one should EVER be allowed to take office due to disenfranchisement of the opposition, or rigged voting machines, or faked counts. Being involved in an attempt to do anything to sabotage the system, should be punishable by deportation, and the loss of citizenship. It really IS that important.

When I heard Nancy Pelosi say the president is dangerous, I agreed, but not for the reasons she gave. I don't believe he is in denial, or disconnected, rather, he knows exactly what is going on, knows it is illegal, and thinks the law doesn't apply to him. Taking Care Of Your Health In The Disaster Area

Last night, I was talking to my oldest, and she told me she has decided to go to the disaster area, to help with the clean-up. While I applaud her bravery, and her spirit, I worry. I wouldn't want anything to happen to her, and I know that has to be a dangerous place right now. I found these two articles on NolaCare. Speaking of the disaster, the Rove/Hughes spin machine is working hard. Bush is planning to look into his own incompetent response to the hurricane. They already have a judas goat all staked out, ready to toss to the lions. They are taking the truth out of the equation, by keeping it bottled up, and spreading rumors concerning crimes and lawlessness that simply didn't exist. There will be plenty of blame to go around, but I really want the administration to come clean, and tell us just what happened - exactly!

Where Does The Blame Lie?

The people that have been stuck in NOLA are finally being pulled out of the mess. Places are being found to keep them safe, and sheltered, and fed. All this is great, but now we can take a moment to ask some really tough questions.

Where does the blame lie for this tragedy? Hurricanes are a fact of life on the gulf coast. I lived through 2 of them, and did a lot of clean-up duty, when I was in the Coast Guard. They do a lot of damage, even the little ones. People get killed, injured, and displaced. The pre-disaster planning is supposed to take all that into account. When I look at the planning for this one, I am appalled. There was no plan. There was no help coming. If you noticed, no help came until Bush decided he wasn't going to be able to just allow those people to die without a big blow-back. THEN the help started arriving, but it was WAY too little, WAY too late, to save a beautiful city. New Orleans died, because Bush neglected the levees, in order to finance his rape of Iraq.

I heard Harry Connick talking about it, and he pointed out that, no matter where you are in the world, if you mention Nawlins, people's eyes light up. They know about The Big Easy, and everyone loves the spirit of that city. Now that spirit has been disgraced, ignored, and allowed to drown. I have to wonder if the religious right, who are firmly in control of our country, REALLY wanted all those poor people to die there. If not, they sure have a funny way of showing it.

Up until right now, I wanted George Bush to pay for what he has done to our wonderful country. Now, I realize there is no way he can ever suffer as much as the suffering he has caused. We still need to get him out of office. We can't survive much more of his brand of "compassionate conservatism".

Where Is New Orleans?

My ex went to New Orleans last weekend, to help a friend get her possessions packed, and wound up making a mad dash for the safety of texas, just hours before the winds began the destruction of that wonderful city. Rather than make any partisan comments, or trying to fix the blame for the tragic lack of preparation, or response to the devastation, I would MUCH rather make a plea for everyone to pull together in helping these poor, stranded victims.

The very moment they are taken care of, the instant that all the lives that can be saved HAVE been saved, there needs to be a reckoning. I want ALL the facts exposed, pounded into the heads of the people who still support the president. I have been angry with him before, he should be used to it by now, but this different. He still has not mobilized the amount of relief, and assistance these people need so desperately. It happened on sunday, and on thursday night, people are still dying, people are still going hungy, and thirsty, and living without medicine, shelter, or any of the myriad other basic needs that we all take for granted.

I'm not blaming Dubya for the storm, although a case could be made, concerning global warming, which he firmly refuses to believe even exists. I'm not blaming him for the damage to New Orleans, even though it was HIS decisions that led to the levees being unable to resist the flooding. I don't see how he can duck responsibility, much as he would like to, for the serious delay in doing anything at all to help the victims. He took his time, relaxed a little, gave a speech, clowned with his buddy, John McCain, went back to the ranch, and did his best to avoid talking to Cindy. I guess he finally checked his answering machine, and heard Karl Rove's message, telling him to get his butt back to D.C., and decided he would make an appearance.

Unable to mobilize anything more complicated than a good bowel movement, he enlisted his dad, and Bill Clinton, to help raise some money. It is beginning to look like Bush is trying to cut his losses. If they all die, stuck in a destroyed city, they can't mess up anyplace else. It's almost as if he is acting from religious beliefs, that God is punishing New Orleans. If so, then he needs to be taken out of there NOW! Before he can screw up anything else, before he can cause any more death, before he can destroy our entire country. We can't wait for an election. We can't wait for him to resign. He needs to be removed from office without delay, although, it would be good to remove Tom DeLay, without delay, too.

Cindy Leaves the Sticks

With the coward finally deciding it is time to make an appearance in D.C., there is no longer any reason for Cindy to camp out in the sweltering texas heat. So, she is headed out for bigger and better things. Here is her last post from Crawford.

With her departure from rural texas, it is time to turn our attention to the other things going on. Let's see, the last time we checked, Karl Rove had still not been indicted, but he can feel the hot, fetid breath of justice breathing down his sweaty neck. Run, Karl, run! The world is coming apart at the seams. The entire Mississippi River Basin is under water. Hundreds died in Iraq yesterday, victims of fear, and greed. The christian right has decided that they need to tell the world who can be in charge of other countries, especially if those countries have valuable resources. If not, then fuck 'em - let 'em starve.

Isn't there some way to END this? To hold the administration responsible for the incredible harm they have done? Right now, we need a hero. Someone who can make sense of all this insanity, and reach the people. I still believe that the people in this country WILL do the right thing, if they can just see what the right thing is.

Cindy Is Leaving Crawford

There is no need to stay there now, waiting for the coward to come out and speak with her. He is going back to his job, finally, after cutting his vacation a couple of days short. Poor, poor, overworked George! The picture of him playing his new guitar, while New Orleans slowly sinks into the sea, brings to mind Nero, fiddling while his beautiful city burned down around him.

So, now he is going back to Washington, without speaking to Cindy. That means she will be going to DC too, along with a lot of other people who want this despotic asshole to answer a few questions.

I blame the republicans for the wheels coming off our country. Every voter who cast a vote for this idiot, has contributed to the destruction of our way of life. Every voting machine that was rigged to give the election to Bush took away the rights of good americans everywhere. Every pundit that spewed the "war message" has been responsible for ALL the deaths in Iraq, ours and theirs alike. Every politician who has supported his failed policies has blood on his (or her) hands.

There is plenty of blame to go around. So, be honest with yourself, if you are to blame, then accept that, and try to fix it. Otherwise, you are just helping Chicken George destroy us all.

Why Do The Chickenhawks Hate Cindy?

Cindy is still braving the texas heat in Crawford, waiting for the coward of McLennen County to poke his head out of his hidey-hole. In the meantime, the attacks on this mother, who gave a son to the Iraq war, continue unabated.

So, why do they hate Cindy so much? Maybe it is because she has more balls than anyone in the administration. Perhaps it reminds the repukelicans that they haven't sent their own kids over there to die. I could write 10 pages about how THAT makes me feel, but I could never get any closer to it than the Grumpy Old Man.

It's even more ironic that, while they can't/won't/don't serve in the military, refuse to stand up when they themselves are saying that the country needs more people to serve, the only violence (so far) in the protest against the monkey-boy's War for Oil has come from those who support him. It reminds me of the Vietnam War protests. The right perpetrated a great deal of violence against the protesters, people were injured, people died, and it would have been worse if Nixon had gotten his way. He wanted them maimed, or killed, and didn't care how it happened. I'm sure Dubya would sleep a lot better if one of his misguided minions managed to take Cindy out. I just hope and pray that she stays safe. This war has already cost her enough, and she has a perfect right to ask her question.

Bitch in the Ditch

Around her is a swirl of activity - people showing up to protest the war - others showing up to protest her being there, disturbing Dubya's vacation. The ugliest thing we have seen so far, was the sign carried by a pro-Bush protester.

Shots have been fired, crosses have been run over, insults have been tossed casually, but even the pro-Bush people were horrified by this sign. When the "gentleman" was told he couldn't display his horrible sign, he became violent, and had to be taken away in cuffs. I blame the right-wing pundits for this. Listening to their inflammatory rhetoric has moved people to protest against this woman, for no other reason than that she disagrees with the asshole in the white house. So, good job, Michelle Malkin, you sorry bitch. Way to go, Bill ~~assrag~~ O'Reilly. Don't feel left out Monica Crowley, Norah O'Donnell, Brit Hume, Rush Limbaugh, you have all done your part.

Every day that this goes on, I lose more of my respect for the right. In 2000, after the coup, I would have supported the assministration, even though I knew they had stolen the election. It was best for our country if we all pulled together, and made things work. Now, I have no regard for them whatsoever. They have squandered 5 years, and accomplished absolutely nothing positive for our country. "Cindy" Is Everywhere

It seems that, even though Cindy has just made it back to the ranch, there are other mothers waiting to talk to our president wherever he goes. I have to wonder if he is starting to feel haunted, the way I have felt since before he and his cronies took over our government. Giving Cindy Hell

And so it goes - the extreme left-wing, represented by pinkos, gays, abortionists, and other, even MORE dangerous liberal types, continue to support Cindy against the vicious onslaught, the smear machine in full operation. Oh, the rethuglican pundits use their most logical tones, and their most rational smiles, but the foul venom that pours from the putrid gashes in their repulsive faces can only mean one thing. They are worried.

Why should they worry? They own everything - they control everything - hell, they even own the voting machines which will continue to be manipulated to KEEP them in control. Why should they fear the voice of one grieving mother? It's because THEY KNOW THEY ARE WRONG! They know, and they are afraid everyone is going to find out.

Well, I have bad news, guys. People have known all along. Not EVERYONE, of course. You can fool some people. You can mobilize your base, and disenfranchise a few minority voters, to get a particularly nasty individual in a position of power. Keeping them in power is a little bit trickier, and can lead you into places where the just WILL NOT GO. Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Tom Delay, and many others have been sloshing through that swampy area for their entire careers. Maybe they don't notice how much mud is being slung around, because they are so used to wallowing in it.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the wagons are still circled around the ~~dick-tater~~ president. Cindy's supporters are still standing tall, dealing with angry neighbors, firing shots into the air, mowing down crosses, evangelizing from horseback, and even being buzzed by bikers. On The Waterfront

I was watching "On the Waterfront" the other night. Marlon Brando does a great job, standing up to the organized thugs who control the docks. It struck me that, not unlike those criminals, our administration uses the same techniques to control the media, and the people. Is this what america has become? Just a bunch of people, starving, trying to survive one more day, while the "fat cats" sit back and rake in all the fruits of their labor?

In the movie, they beat up on poor Terry (played by Brando) because he wouldn't go along with the program. After they killed his brother, they still expected him to be quiet, because of the fear that he might suffer too. It sounded just like Cindy Sheehan, standing on the side of the road, refusing to "sit down and shut up". They have beaten her up on the 24/7 "news" channels, tried to still her voice by threat and intimidation, but she is still talking.

You keep talking, Cindy, and we will keep listening. Hopefully, you can reach enough people to show these bastards for what they really are - sick, frightened, little men, with nothing to support them except fear.

There is an organized protest, against our little Cindy Sheehan, called the "You Don't Speak For Me, Cindy Tour". Some right-wing, pro-war activists are planning to make a trip to Crawford, to make sure their voices are heard, too. I don't have a problem with that. They have the same right to an opinion that Cindy has, and if they feel they have to steal a bit of her spotlight to make their point, so be it. They are welcome to come, protest, and express themselves. I am sure that SOME of the ~~rat's~~ president's neighbors will be happy to see them arrive.

I am not really worried about them bringing more violence with them, these are, after all, chickenhawks of the worst stripe. Still, they might be able to screw up enough courage to bring harm to a grieving mother, even if they don't have the balls to face a REAL enemy in Iraq, or Iran, or Syria (coming soon to a war near YOU). I just think it is important to remember that everyone should have a voice in the way this country's affairs are handled. Of the people, by the people, and for the people... it doesn't say anything about the Bush family, or the right-wing nutjobs, just the people. THAT'S ALL OF US, ASSHOLES!

So, Cindy doesn't speak for me, either. She doesn't speak for the people that are there to support her. They lend her their voices, because they support her effort to bring some attention to the illegal nature of the war we are fighting. Cindy doesn't speak for you, it's up to you to stand up and speak for yourself. Cindy doesn't speak for any of us. But, she does have the right to speak for herself, without being attacked for it by the likes of Michelle Malkin, and Bill (pussyboy) O'Reilly. She has the right to speak for herself, whether you like what she is saying, or not. She has the right to speak for herself, and if you DON'T support that right, then you ARE the problem.

Cindy Going Home

The Vigil Continues...

So, Cindy waits, and prays, and misses her son, Casey. In the meantime, while Chicken George hides at the pig farm, the right-wing smearmongers are dragging her through the mud and muck. Her family doesn't support her, her husband is leaving her, she has changed her story. I suppose we will hear soon that Cindy kills little children, stolen from good republican homes, to feed her desperate need to drink blood from their skulls.

All this while our fearless leader, the most powerful man in the free world (until recently), sits his worthless ass on his little pig farm in N. Cindy on The Daily Show

I Am Ashamed

I grew up in Texas, a normal, partiotic kid, who loved his country. My family was important to me. So important, in fact, that, even though I disagreed with the war, I joined because my family had taught me that it is my duty to serve when my country calls. I am thankful that I didn't get sent to Vietnam, although I would have gone had I been ordered there. I kept my word, and served out my obligation. In the meantime, G. H. W. Bush's son was busy skipping out on his service, breaking his oath to serve. It is possible that he was in rehab, he DID have some drinking and drug problems, and probably still does.

Now, I see a lady, the mother of a fallen marine, who can't get a moment of this asshole's time, because he can't stand to appear weak. Well, he IS weak, and ineffectual, and in all probability, a criminal. How does a country allow something like this to happen? What SHOULD have been done to stop this cancerous administration before it spread to destroy everything we hold dear? I don't have the answers. I wish I did, but I don't. I refuse, however, to accept that there IS no way to fix it.

We have a huge portion of the country, probably good, decent people, who work for a living. For some reason, they have decided to drink the koolaid, laced with hatred and lies, and lie down for their "leader". Why don't some of these good people see that they are being tricked, and lied to, and cheated out of the nation they have worked so hard to build? Some liberal pundits say it is because they are stupid. I know better. I talk to people on both sides, and they are no different than anyone else. Yet, they continue to suck down the neo-con tripe, and seem to like the way it tastes. I don't get it. I just DON'T GET IT!

Cindy Is Still Sweating

He tried to answer her questions at his ~~strokefest~~ press conference, but it was just the same old ~~pile of crap~~ party line that he always spews. Karl wrote him a nifty speech, and he got to use "War On Terra" several times. All in all, a good afternoon. I suppose he could give it again for the 100 or so media people waiting with Cindy for him to make an appearance.

In the meantime, the protestors are outside the ranch, suffering in the brutal Texas sun, waiting for a moment of the yellow-bellied, draft-dodger's time. Good luck getting him to come out, even with his army of secret service (what so secret about them?) goons. That would be too much like a man.

Oh, has anyone seen Karl Rove around anywhere? I just wanted to remind him that, if there is any justice at all in this world, he may be waking up, very very soon, with the sun shining striped on the floor. I wonder how he will look in a jumpsuit?

Loose Ends

I know things can get complicated - too many irons in the fire - details get overlooked. I know that, when the ~~asshole in the white house~~ president gets back from Crawford, he is going to need to catch up on a few things.

I was going to make a list, just to help him sort things out, but the task is beyond me. There is just too much going on at one time for me to follow it all. I think it needs a genius, someone like Karl Rove maybe, to figure it out.

Some of the highlights:

Cindy Sheehan is still getting a sunburn in Crawford. She will probably die of exposure before she gets a visit from the chickenhawk-in-residence. She is trying to ask the president some questions about the War on Terror. That's the war that was already in the planning on the day ~~the usurper~~ president Bush took office. You remember - the one that they fixed the intelligence around, so they could get enough support to invade a country that was no threat to us?

They used the attacks on 9/11 to stir up support for action. It was awfully convenient that it happened just as they were looking for a reason to start a war in the middle east. Someone should look into that.

Speaking of attacks, while the draft-dodging leaders of this ~~clusterfuck~~ administration have managed to avoid putting themselves, and their progeny, in harm's way, they don't seem to have any reluctance when it comes to attcking the character of anyone who refuses to regurgitate the "party line". Dissenting voices have been silenced, a sure sign of hostility, and there is a constant stream of misinformation, being fed to us through a conservative-owned media.

They don't hesitate to attack our freedoms, of speech, of privacy, of choice, and yet, they somehow consider themselves the victims of attacks. It's sort of like the schoolyard bully, crying because he got hit back. It's sad, but it fails to move me very much.

As you can see, it would be impossible to list everything that is going wrong for the neo-cons. I haven't even mentioned the criminal charges coming for Rove, Libby, possibly even Cheney. I haven't brought up the war crimes trials coming for Bush. I am just thankful that Colin Powell had the good sense to get away from these people.

Bless her heart! This mother of a soldier has buried her son, and now she wants George Bush to explain why he had to die. It's a good question.

Bush, of course, will say that "Freedom is on the march!", and "We are fighting the terrorists over there so we don't have to fight them here!" It's all bullshit, and Bush knows that, but he has to justify his "War for Oil" stance.

He will not speak to her at the ranch. That much is clear. I'm not even sure that he should. People can't hold you hostage in your home, demanding that you speak to them, unless they are federal officers, and then they can do whatever the hell they want to do. He wouldn't speak to Max Cleland, even though the former senator had left pieces of himself all over Vietnam.

Recent polls have shown the presidnt's approval rating falling off, but the only poll that really counts is the one they take at the voting booth. Since the thugs own the voting machines, and don't really care what the people of this country want, that poll is not accurate. Something has to be done to get this usurper out of the white house, before he destroys the country we love.

Boys and Toys

I spoke to my ex-wife over the weekend. It doesn't happen often, usually when someone is dead or injured. This time it was an old friend, hurt badly in a motorcycle accident. This was the second friend hospitalized, and nearly lost, because of a Harley wreck, in less than a year.

We are not young men, late-50s, but there is still some time left to live. I just think it is something we have to do. In particular, these two enjoy riding their bikes. So, they ride. I don't blame them, I play my music, whether I have an audience, or not. It is what I do, and that is what they do. It is possible that none of us will survive to be old men, and that is okay. I don't think you ever really GET old, until you stop being young.

So, Boxe, Sonny, keep riding. Let the wind blow your hair around, and watch out for the idiots that don't pay attention. Cruise down the highway with "Born to Be Wild" ringing in your head. Stay out of Louisiana, and BE CAREFUL DAMMIT!

I Give Up?

Today was going to be the last entry in my blog. I have grown increasingly frustrated with the political scene, and especially with pundits who regurgitate ~~lies~~ "talking points", knowing they are lying. Anything is fair, when it is for the good of the party. "Good" being defined as "whatever keeps us in power". It stinks on toast.

I thought the Nixon years were bad, and I was right, but this is MUCH worse. This bunch of crooks may be even worse than the Reagan clusterfuck. It is important to note that, even though he is not in office, "Pappy" Bush still seems to have a hand in everything that goes on. There is no way his drunken stumblebum of a son could have been elected to the office of governor in Texas. It seems it might not be impossible to pull off a coup, however, similar to those the CIA pulled off in Central America. Given that the draft-dodging cokehead was installed as a leader, without benefit of a fair election process, you have to assume that there were other forces at work.

Then, of course, they did the same thing in 2000. I would like to know exactly WHAT judge Sandy owed "Pappy". Whatever it was, it certainly caused her to drop any pretense of integrity, and "Georgie" got another job for which he is not qualified. No worries, though, daddy's machine takes care of all the business of screwing up the world. All our president has to do is practice his ~~dissembling~~ speech-making, and try not to fall off his bike.

The 2004 "reelection" was an even simpler "black op". Just a matter of making sure that the voters would waste a lot of time, if they wanted to vote for anyone other than Bush. See to it that "good republicans" own the companies that do the reporting, and voila (that's french), another term in office for the planet killers.

Information management has been pretty easy too. No matter what facts come to light, they simply have a cadre of pundits scream ridiculous "talking points", and no one can hear the truth. As a matter of fact, if you scream the lies loud enough, and long enough, you can convince people that someone served in the military, without actually serving, and that a recognized war hero, with real medals and everything, somehow made it all up. It's amazing what a little well-placed propaganda can do.

So, while I may be frustrated, I feel that every voice of dissent MUST be important. The volume of the republiscum party is loud, insistent, and coordinated. Our voices may be weaker, but that doesn't mean we can stop yelling the message.

How Did We Get Here?

Our illustrious president, and his evil minions, have committed political murder. They have sent our country to war, resulting in the death of thousands of good, young democrats, and all on the basis of lies and fabricated intelligence. It feels a lot like the Reagan debacle, and I feel sure that, true to form, anyone found guilty of wrongdoing will be pardoned before they leave the courtroom.

I have had more than enough of these prevaricators. I can't wait for America to wake up, and demand their immediate ouster. In the meantime, I am looking into job opportunities in Greenland. It should be a while before they get around to annexing the entire northern hemisphere.

Why won't this white house work with people, instead of against them?

Obviously, it is because their policies can't stand up to the light of day. They are only neo-con handjobs, designed to make the christian right happy, and no one else. Maybe they will eventually get happy enough to allow the rest of us to continue living here, but it is looking doubtful.

I have a good friend, who is rational, sane, and intelligent, except when it comes to politics. This guy understands how to fix complicated machinery, but he can't get his mind around the give-and-take of the american political system. It is frustrating to talk to him about the Bush administration. He is behind them, no matter what, and refuses to even watch the news, if there is anything showing George Bush in a bad light. I wonder how he will feel when the wheels come completely off this juggernaut. I hope he is able to find something to like about the next president, besides the fact that he is George Bush's brother.

We talk, about whatever is in the news at the time, and I always come away with a sick feeling. It's as if he can't get his mind around anything that might make the president look bad. He believes we are fighting in Iraw because they attacked us on 9/11, because the president told him so. He believes we did everything we could to avoid the fight, but were pushed into it by Saddam Hussein's refusal to quit stockpiling WMDs, because Bush told him so. He believes the war is a great thing, making us safer here at home, in spite of the fact that everyone says we are no safer now than we were before the war, because the bicycling, monkey-man told him so.

True to his conservative views, he also believes that the public has no reason to join in. The blacks and hispanics are doing a great job, and they don't need any white-boy soldiers getting in the way. So, the war is a GOOD thing, but joining the fight by enlisting is a BAD thing. I was very much against the vietnam war, and yet, when my country said they needed help, I joined. Today's right-wing whackos don't feel the way we did. They believe that, as long as there are poor people, they should be free to relax at home, enjoying the freedoms that are being defended by "someone else".

It is a sad state of affairs, but it is only going to get worse as the credibility gap grows. Soon, having depleted his resources and people, Bush will be forced to institute a draft. I guess it's too much to hope that the neo-cons will have to send their kids off to fight. As usual, the violence and death will only be required of the children of the REAL americans.

George W. Bush Hates Jesus

It has taken quite some time, and a SHITLOAD of evidence, but the verdict is finally in. George W. Bush hates Jesus, and everything he stands for, especially compassion. There is not a shred of decency left in this administration, and it is also sadly lacking in the legislative branch leaders.

WITNESS: The immoral, illegal "War on Terror" has never been a war. A war would be our country (or coalition) opposing your country (or coalition) in defense of our nation, or our nation's assets. That situation does NOT exist here. Instead, we find ourselves fighting an enemy that never attacked us until we attacked them. We are killing women, children, dogs, goats, anything that moves, while the terrorists (remember them?) are free to plan, and execute further attacks in relative safety.

WITNESS: The violent rape of the constitution, the economy, and the average worker. We have fewer rights, less money, less opportunity, and no chance of being represented in Washington. The Bush administration has sent our jobs to other countries, and now they want to take away minimum wage and overtime. Taking one step at a time, they are systematically reducing our proud, free nation to a giant corporation. Before long, the bottom line will be the only law.

WITNESS: The abject refusal to deal with corruption in the white house. If the presidential advisors went out and murdered a few people, in plain sight of the press corps, they would still be protected, and defended by the entire right wing of this country. Preachers would scream from their pulpits that "the church is under attack by left-wing police chiefs, who only want to exalt Satan". Scott McClellan would issue a statement - "I have spoken to each member of the administration, and they all tell me they are not involved". That would work until the videos came out, and then it would become - "We can't comment on an ongoing investigation". In the meantime, Fox News would run a string of conservative pundits, all parroting the current spin. Bill O'Reilly - "Some people just NEED killing." Pat Buchanan - "It is important to remember that we only have the word of a few reporters, and a couple of grainy video tapes, and that is not enough to justify destroying someone's reputation." Monica Crowley - "Bullets travel much too quickly to be seen. Therefore, no one really SAW these people get killed. Those bullets could have come from anywhere." Robert Novak - "If these gay terrorists REALLY think they were killed unjustly, why don't they come forward and speak up about it?"

The whole thing just makes me sick. Is this the best we can do as a nation? Is there no way to regain our status in the world, or at least our self-respect? It is time for the country as a whole to take a step back, look at what is going on, and then take the slingshot away from the little boy - before any more windows get broken!

The Right is Wrong

The conservative right is our of control. We have a white house that doesn't care anything about the law, or about the people they swore to protect. We have a senate that can't get anything done because of the partisan division in their ranks, and we have the House, featuring the slimiest lizard-boy of them all, Tom Delay.

Is is going to take another coup to get control of our country back where it belongs? That is what they used to GET control, and it may take a few more nasty turns before power is finally returned to the people.

In the meantime, I think it is just going to get worse.

Give Until it Hurts

I was watching Lou Dobbs bend over for a couple of pundits, talking about the CAFTA agreement. One was, of course, very much FOR it, and the other very much AGAINST it. Lou seemed to be against it, but how in the hell are you supposed to tell?

What struck me was an offhand comment to the effect of, "President Bush says it is because americans spend too much, and don't save enough."

I couldn't believe it. We have an incredible deficit, with no relief in sight, a war that is causing us to literally BLEED money every day, and it is OUR fault? It would be different if the people spending the money actually listened to what we have to say. But, NO -- they just trip merrily along, spending money, breaking laws, stealing our future, and destroying our constitution.

They tell us we have no one to blame but ourselves. We spend too much. It doesn't matter that the cost of getting back and forth to work every day costs more than 10 times as much as it did 40 years ago. It doesn't matter that food costs are going up every day. Housing costs more than it ever has.

Americans, as a rule, are generous people. They will gladly pay a little more for gas, if they know that the extra money is going to help less fortunate people. They will pay more for food, if they know that the additional cost is going to help feed people who don't have enough. They will pull money out of their pockets for a homeless person. What they will NOT do, is allow a corrupt government official, group, or party, to line their pockets at their expense.

I feel that there is a day of reckoning coming. If the Boosh boy wants to "forgive and forget", the way his father did after the Iran-Contra affair, it may be more difficult to do. I hope they chase him down in the road, and beat him with sticks.

Sticky Ricky Santorum - Hard-headed

I watched Sticky Rick tonight on Jon Stewart. I thought, at the very least, I would get to see Jon put him on the spot. I wasn't disappointed - in JON, that is - but Senator Sticky is one closed-minded sucker!

Jon made point after point, demonstrating easily that Sticky's position on marriage is ridiculous, and still the show ended with Little Ricky believing his wedded bliss is somhow threatened by a couple of lesbians deciding to spend their lives together.

He is a sad, sad man. I only hope the voters recognize his illness, and give him a chance to rest for a few decades. He has done quite enough damage already.

Where Is the Outrage?

I was thrilled when I read that the british police had taken down a terrorist in the act of terrorizing London. Imagine my shock when I learned that he wasn't a terrorist, just a frightened, confused brazilian. Even MORE shocking is the reaction of the right to this incident.

I expected some outrage - some acceptance of the fact that the police overreacted. Instead, I am treated to the same response they always have. "Fuck 'em! Better them than us!" I believe this attitude is why we have to worry about them in the first place. We have been saying "Fuck 'em!" for a lonng, long time.

The real lesson to be learned from this is - DON"T BE BROWN!

Condoleeza's Posse Gets Punked

In a bizarre incident in Sudan, the entourage with Dr. Rice was manhandled, and roughed up. In Russia, a guy tossed a grenade at our president. Things are getting blown up. Folks are being kidnapped. The world is going to hell in a handbasket, and our leaders are asleep at the wheel.

I understand them wanting to get Karl Rove off the front page. He is killing them. By the way, the button in the picture at right says, "I'm a source. Not a target." I understand them wanting to get things together for their friends in the far-far-far-right. They promised.

Well, they promised US a few things too. They promised to unite the country, not divide it with partisan politics. They promised to deal with us openly, and honestly, and they have failed miserably.

Oh Annie! How could you? It looks like Ann Coulter, the smart, good-looking voice of the evil far-far-right, has been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. It's a shame, but it appears the wheels are coming off the republiwagon.

A quick glance at the news coming out of our nation's capitol shows that the administration, and the majority of the house and senate, have less moral fiber than even the nefarious Nixon white house. When are we going to take back our country from these crooks?

With all the noise about Karl Rove, and the new SCOTUS nominee, there has been plenty to keep everyone focused on the news coming out of the capitol. I might have missed the attack on this cute, smart lady. I have been aware of her views for some time now, having seen her speak a few times, and I have always been impressed with her.

So, all of a sudden, she is catching 9 kinds of hell from the conservative right. She has made it clear that, to win the hearts and minds of Islam, we are going to have to take a different approach. I can't imagine that blowing up your country, killing your children, and occupying your land, would turn them against us, but there it is. She makes a lot of sense, but that doesn't seem to make any difference to the "war machine" that is busy turning the conflict into money as fast as they can.

With the shouts of "check out her sexual orientation", and "don't listen to her", I have to wonder just what she has done to set off these assholes. She makes a lot of sense, and has some great ideas for bringing the world together. Is it just that they don't WANT the world to work together? Could it be that, should peace break out, that their "money-maker" of a war might grind to a halt?

Smearing Karl Rove

I have to laugh when I read that Karl Rove is being "smeared" by the terrible democrats. Poor little Karly has been treated very badly by the press and the left, in spite of the fact that all he has ever done is work hard to bring good leadership to our country. Bullshit!

Karl Rove is a blight on the american system of government. This guy has pulled one nasty trick after another, blaming the dems for everything from bugging his office (which he did himself), to throwing a beer bash (which he setup on stolen stationary). Whether this bastard actually broke the law, or whether he has been right on the line, really matters not at all. What SHOULD matter to the people that put baby Bush in office is that the "politics of dirty tricks" has become a HUGE embarrassment.

Let's just hope that Mr. Fitzgerald has something to bring an end to this adminstration's "scream loudly and lie" policies. Hopefully, it will happen before the entire world decides that we have to be stopped. In the past, our leaders have been good men, with a few exceptions (LBJ, Nixon, Bush), who actually cared about our nation. Now, we have partisan politics for breakfast every day, and the work of our country is not being done. I hope we still have a country when the next elections finally come around.

It's a good question. The Bush white house crew is busy. They are deflecting scandal, and possibly even criminal charges. This clusterfuck looks just like the Nixon administration, except for the fact that the wheels are coming off. I agree with the republicans about one thing. The special prosecutor is doing his job, so we should just let things play out. In the meantime, let's not lose sight of the fact that there is a country to run. Since Pappy got his boy installed in a political power play, things have really gone downhill. We are hemorrhaging money in the Iraq war. At home, the FBI is keeping an eye on anyone who disagrees with the snot-nosed draft dodger in charge. Don't forget, while you are searching your ranch for WMDs, that we are still waiting for a leader to emerge from this mess. And waiting - and waiting...

It seems that every time I turn on the news, or read a paper, or listen to the radio, I am deluged with stories about one more "dirty trick" that has been pulled by this administration. I have made allowances for a liberal bias in the media, which I do NOT acknowledge even exists, and still I see WAY too much information concerning the underhanded politics by the GOP.

This is just insane. How is it that, with all the infomation slamming us from every direction, that Bush still holds the highest office in the land? Is there nothing that can be done to get the message to the people who are voting for these criminals? Is it really so important to keep gays from being married? So much that we are willing to let our democracy go down in flames, rather than allow other people to do what they want?

I would hope that there is enough intelligence in the vast christian community to recognize the real harm that is being done to our nation. If you REALLY want to show some moral strength, you need to open your eyes, look at the facts, and do what is RIGHT! Please, before it is too late, take a good hard look at what we have running this country. Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Libby - these are crooks. DeLay, Santorum, Cornyn, Dewine, Frist, Hatch, Hutchinson, Lott, Santorum, Specter, Warner - these people are morally bankrupt. I could list a few members of the house, but what's the use? America will either wake up and smell the coffee, or die in it's sleep. I, for one, will miss it terribly.

What can possibly be wrong with this boy? Has he lost his ever-loving mind? Saint Dick has decided that he is right about the Boston liberals, and no amount of talking is going to get him off his message. The liberal attitude in places like Boston caused good people to go bad. It caused priests to abandon their oaths of service, and poke little boys in the hiney. What kind of a nutburger says things like that?

I think he is just sexually deprived. Maybe the women around Washington are starting to realize that the smell of these republicans is not just bad hygiene, but the stench of corruption. I wouldn't worry too much Ricky. I know Judith Miller is locked up right now, so there is one less willing female to use and degrade, but there is good news. Ann Coulter is free, and available, and she LIKES you guys. As an added bonus, she is not likely to ever run afoul of a grand jury. She would actually have to KNOW something.
